So I got a dwarf colored feather duster yesterday and it wont come out of its tube. A couple of crabs pulled apart the top of it's tube. I think it was dead tissue but I'm not sure. It anchored itself in the sand behind a rock this morning. Does this happen a lot? What should I do?

This is life in a reef tank. If you have crabs that are going to attack the feather duster, there isn't much you can do IMHO.

I'm not sure feather dusters 'shed' any of their tube. Is that something you read?

Feather dusters won’t shed their tube. It can be bothered and torn by something but they will build it again over time, given they aren’t being bullied again.
