Filter media cups and macro algea

Has any one considered or tried using a filter media cup to house macro algea? My sump accepts a 7 inch filter sock and am considering changing it out when I install my protein skimmer because I never remember to change it. Thanks.

I have my cheato in a square container with a small rock at the bottom to keep it from floating.

I have had good success with it. I just pull it out when it grows.

I have a small sump so I didn’t have a choice.

Sadly, I can't, its not easy to access. FYI, do not get a Bashsea Mano Sump SS if you want actual room in your sump. The return chamber is 4x4.4 inches.

I will try and remember to take one when I check it for growth. Its got a small grow light above it and its hard for my old fat self to bend and contort to take a picture.
