filter sock on skimmer

is there any need on haveing a sock on a skimmer return any one??

i run my filter socks on the main drain going into the sump. if you prefilter the water there, there should be no need to run one on the skimmer output. everything higher than 100-micron (or whatever micron socks you use) will already have been filtered out before it gets to the skimmer.

thank you im getting better water flow in my sump with out it. it's a 40 gal breeder with L/R
