I just noticed a chunk of my firefish's fin missing today. I've seen him get chased/nipped at by my female clownfish but never noticed any damage.

They've been in their current tank for over 3 months and my parameters are ok. I've seen some pre spawning behavior from my clowns so I'm kinda hoping it is just a little extra aggression due to that and not an infection or an emerging pattern of aggression from my clown.

Thoughts?

It doesn't look infected yet. I'm betting on clown aggression here. They can get very territorial during spawning. Just keep an eye on it. If it starts turning white and spreading, or if it turns red those are both bad signs and treatment with antibiotics should be considered. You can go ahead and feed kanaplex + Focus and head off any infection, but really I think just adding vitamins to his food like Selcon or Vitachem would be just fine to help boost his immune system enough to heal that on his own.
