I have been a long time lurker on the forum but just decided to join the R2R family.

I am from northern Illinois. I work as a water treatment engineer. So I was able to grasp the majority of the biology and chemistry concepts relatively quickly.

My first tank is a small 14G biocube, that’s 1.5 years old now. Hopefully, beginning to overcome my beginner mistakes. The biggest was starting out with constant GFO usage. This kept my phosphates at zero and eventually led to Dino. After correcting this mistake I now have a Cyano issue. I think I am finally getting ahead of it now with green hair algae growth starting to take off.

I recently received a 20 gal tank from someone leaving the hobby, about 6 months ago. However, I was never able to get the plumbing back in operation without shutting it down. So I recently setup a 40 gallon frag tank to keep the live stock and reduce the required maintenance needed to keep things happy.
