Ok - Tired of calibrating refractors and squinting to read the salinity. Tried the Hanna Salinity reader not working. And forget the Apex probe.

Finally figured out to put my finger in the aquarium and TASTE the salinity. 35 ppt tastes slightly oaky and hint of bitterness. Hits all five taste sensations but Salty definitely wins out.

How do you accurately determine your salinity???

Accurately with a hydrometer - good enough for today with refractometer
But I do often taste the water in buckets to see if it's just ro or I actually finished the job and put salt in there:)

I saw the old school moonshiner hydrometer. May get one to measure against the others.
