Spray gun if you have access or you could rattle can it minwax makes a rattle can of it just do thin multiple coats anyway you choose to do it

I've just brushed it on lightly and did about 3 or 4 layers. I actually finished a huge built in bookshelf with it.

+1

i did 4+ thin poly coats on my stand lightly sanding with 220 grit sandpaper in-between coats which helps prevent runs and gives a smoother finish.

Multiple thin coats work best. I have 5 coats of satin Spar Varnish over the Minwax Golden Oak Stain on my stand and canopy.

put it in a spray bottle, spray it on then wipe it with cheese cloth or an old t-shirt, just wipe it very thin and use several coats. Good luck

Thanks for the replies, I did thin coats and sanded in between, all good. I set the tank on the stand to get a look and see how the sump will fit.

I still need to fimish the inside of the cabinet and a couple baffles in the sump. The glass comp. cut one baffle a little too tight for comfort.
