I have had my little red one for a few weeks now, I could have bought 3 but wasn't sure so I didn't.
I also have a scissor tail dart fish, slightly larger, they get on fine.
Rather than adding a couple more I am thinking about adding a different colour, will they fight in peoples opinion / experience? :)

How big of a tank are we talking here? I've had a purple firefish with a scissortail goby and they got along fine. In fact in my store sometimes multiple firefish will end up together in a tank and the worst that happens is some fin nipping never any killing, but that's because they hop into the next tank and get moved once noticed. I think a purple and a red firefish should be fine if your tank is large enough but say if it's just a ten gallon there will probably be fighting

550 litre water volume, thanks. :)

multiple firefish will not usually coexist long term, even if they are different colors.

the scissortails will be fine in multiples and with a firefish.

Based on the 5 I have owned through the years.... they fight!!!

I have firefish in each of my 3 tanks. They for me get along well. One has a pair, the largest has a trio which ive had 2+ years
