Finally decided I could not wait any longer, picked up a ~1.5 - 2 inch Maxima clam today :) !

It looks completely different from the top view (it's a vibrant green) versus the side view (very blue :D).
Will post update pics (hopefully it'll survive, only concern: guy at LFS may have yanked it off its pebble  although the foot looks undamaged).

Parameters Tested Today (Saltwater test kit and Red Sea Kh/Ca/Mg Test Kit):
pH: 8
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 0-5 ppm
Ammonia: 0.25 ppm
Alkalinity: 7.0 dKH
Calcium: 480 ppm
Magnesium: 1560 ppm

Do the calcium and magnesium levels look too high? I have never dosed any, those values come from biweekly water changes with Instant Ocean sea salt...

Thanks for looking!

Is the ammonia, nitrate and nitrite taken with API test? I have no experiences of API tests but 0.25 seems to be normal answer for ammonia in that test. (to be honest - it is the most common result in all total ammonia test kits I know). Probably its a false result.

I do not think that your calcium and magnesium concentrations are of concern for the clam. I have had over 500 ppm calcium around my clams. It will decrease when the clam starts to grow.

Sincerely Lasse

Hey!! Clam buddies! Mine has been slowly but surely scooting off the edge of my aquascape... kinda nervous for it. Make sure to keep that calcium up so it can grow!

Beautiful cluster of corals! Would that spot be fine for it in the long run? I see that these guys can get huuuuge so I have not put mine on my rock work. I had to elevate it from the sand bed so my pistol shrimp doesn't decide to move it around the tank as it has done with my kenya tree coral :p

Yeah, I’m gonna I’m gonna move it in a couple years/ whenever it gets too big. It’s a lagoon with a half moon aquascape design so the clam is gonna go in the middle of the crescent. This is just my most established and cared for tank, where I put all my finicky or sensitive corals so I’m starting him here.
