I've checking out R2R for a few months now, but I have a few questions, so it's time to start typing as well as reading.

I have a 29g Oceanic Biocube that I inherited from a friend. I have LPS, polyps, an anemonie, 4 chromis, a tri-color wrasse and a sleeper sifter in my tank curently. I am looking at getting a larger tank (120g or so) and that's where the questions come from. Thanks for all the great info! - I'm off to post in the other forums......

Awesome! Welcome to the world of R2R posting...which may become habit forming. :-)

so what was the question.... welcome to r2r.

if youre looking for filtration opinions i say do a 40 or 55 sump with a sca 302 protein skimmer, 3 lights (hit up @SB Reef Lights ) and a couple rw8 or rw15 wave makers.

This is exactly what I was hoping for. It's pretty limited what I have personally seen - light recommended to me were "halos" with controllers and I am going to do custom rimless with a sump. Looking at 48x22x24. Glass. I hear mixed things about wavemakers and I'm too new and naive to have my own opinion yet.

I suggest read some more, it will only help you in the long run.
We have plenty of ppl on here that been reading and asking for months before the made a game plan.
BTW, welcome to R2R.

As far as specific questions, I need to gather some info on Qt tanks and setups - I was thinking when I get the new tank I would turn the biocube into a Q tank but I'm not sure how to set it up. Does it need to be running all the time or just when I get new stuff? What chemicals/dip products do I need/ how much rock? Water changes....blah...blah....blah. I need to read up on it.

YUP - that's the plan! I' not one to jump the gun. I'm known to research my research

i would run a qt tank at all times (if i ran one) this would allow for a stable environment for your fish and coral you put into the qt. when theres no live stock in the tank you can dose pure ammonia to keep a good cycle without having to ghost feed or have rotten shrimp in it.

QT, 20 gallon is good enough get a HOB filter, heater and some 2" fittings and your good to go.
No need of a light or sand with rocks.
Make sure you got a screen on top.

HOB? (remember, newb here!)

NO need for lights or rock at all? That makes it easy.......
