First Saltwater Tank: 50G FOWLR

I've had freshwater tanks for a couple of years. I got a chance to get a full 50g setup for a great price and I snagged it up. Had a buddy convince me to do salt. I did.

A lot more thought and research has to go into saltwater tanks than freshwater, which I knew from researching, but I am being blown away at just how much. I'm keeping up pretty fine though.

I'll post pictures of my progress, which I have been documenting extensively.

Here are the photos of my custom stand build. It came with one of those 4-legged steel stands, which I hate. So my dad and I built this one up. I like it a lot more than the stands that you can get at most stores, plus it was a lot cheaper.

I chose to paint my background plain black. I hate the black plastic like backgrounds from the store. They never go on right and shine too much. Plus I'm hoping to just let it be overcome with coralline.

I used a rustoleum black any surface spray paint and it only took 2 coats to cover so that no light could shine though.

Sweet build. Fowlr give you the chance to keep fish that can't be put in a reef tank. I have you did any research on what all you need or have any questions. We are glad to stick our noses in other peopls builds. Lol

Welcome to r2r, looks like you are off to a great start. I am a freshwater convert myself, definitly a lot to learn but take it slow. People here are great to answer any questions that you may have.

Thanks everyone! I've been doing a lot of research. I spent a couple of hours a night for almost 2 months before I even bought anything. It's a lot more work, but that's all the better!
