First time ocellaris owner (anemone questions)

Hi everyone! I'm getting my first pair of clownfish soon with the hopes of adding an anemone once my tank is fully established/cycled. Do Ocellaris Clownfish host in bubble tip anemones, or is there another type of anemone I should be thinking about getting?

Thank you! Is there another type of anemone that's safe for beginners? If I stick with bubble tip anemone, what other clownfish should I look into?

In the wild Ocellaris normally host magnificent anemones which to a beginner is not a wise choice unfortunately, luckily a bubble tip will be a good option once your tank reaches around 6 months or so. The biggest problem is convincing your clowns to live in the anemone. You could buy a pair that is already living in an anemone too

Clownfish will host all sorts of things including coral and different types of anemones. It’s not a guarantee they will host or host what you want them to. There is some different techniques you can look up online but honestly I’ve been lucky and my clownfish have always hosted my bubble tips. Bubble tips are not too hard to care for just be careful with your powerheads as they can get caught in them especially if they are on the move when you first add them.

Natural host anemone for occellaris are magnifica, gigantea, and mertensii. As someone just said, these are all the most difficult Anemones to keep.

Maroon and clarkii will naturally host bta. I have 15 occellaris and they don't go near my bta. They even host my clams before bta

I heard that maroons and clarkies can be a lot more aggressive. Is there a more mild tempered clownfish/easier anemone pair I should look into?

Only gigantea and mertensii carpet are natural hosts. My occellaris hosts my haddoni, but it is hit or miss just like bta.

Thank you. Still learning just had to look it up. I didn't realize there where so many different type of carpets.

They are aggressive. The only other natural host to bta are cinnamon and red saddleback. I have a regular saddleback and he/she is not super aggressive.

I know clarkiis can be aggressive, but they are super interesting. I read a lot of people have problems with clarkiis killing other fish though.

I honestly really enjoy clarkii and it hosts everything. Mine does into bta, mertensii, magnifica, LTA, gigantea. In a single day he goes into all 5 of those Anemones.

This is a true statement... i have kept bubble tip nems for years, Mag's are on another planet..seriously. I will say my occellaris pair love it.

I have A. Bicinctus. Very similar to Clarkiis and I owned Clarkiis in the past. I have never had one too aggressive, but they can be. Mine will shoo the PJ Cardinals out of the way, but never attacks. He was best pals with my Midas Blenny (RIP). 45 gallon AIO tank.

The A. Bicinctus I have currently (sold as Spotcinctus) went to my BTA in about 2 days. The male I added later also went in as allowed by the larger female. Took a little longer, but since he matured they both take host.
