Cabinet doors go on tomorrow! We will be done except for waiting on the counter and backsplash to get here.

On track to have the hall, dining room and kitchen completely done by Christmas. Good thing too because it has been decided that extended family Christmas is at our house this year!

I have been meaning to correct something on the tank for a while now. When the hole got drilled for the fijicube overflow, somehow it made the water level about 3/4" too high up. so I pulled the inner box and just put a bulkhead strainer on. This did two bad things: it allows a film to build up on the surface and it has to be removed weekly for cleaning.

So, today, I took a few and designed a whole new inner overflow in TinkerCAD with the pipe built in. Should set the water level where I want it and it only cost the remnant of a roll of black filament. Should be done about 7 or so and I will take pics and get it installed.

Well, I'm almost like extended family. I'll be there the week before Christmas to get things off on the right foot!

It’s dead quiet. Phone always makes stuff louder. It’s a little loose so I am going to wrap the pipe in teflon tape. Should work.

As for now it’s already removed the surface film. Awesome!

That's pretty sweet! Well done.

How long did it take to print?

Also, I'm a little lose. You think it would work if I wrapped myself in teflon tape too?

Thanks!

6hrs (ABS prints slower)

I think we should wrap your keyboard in tape so you can't type this stuff! :)

I have to redo the Kessil bar mount because it didn’t hold up well enough.

Other than that should be installed and setting complete this weekend as long as my buddy comes to pick up his 3d printed radion shades.

Any particular reason you made the corners on the piece for the PVC lines rounded or is it an illusion and they are square?

The front corners are rounded just for aesthetics
They will wind up in the back left corner. The holes are sized for 1” bulkheads.

I’m gonna do my take of a bashea bio sump without the bio compartment.

I have all the materials laying around to do it. I am not happy with my current sump. Another thing I will add is unions right at the bulk heads to facilitate sump removal for deep cleaning or repairs if they are ever necessary. It will be clear front and sides and black bottom and back and clear dividers with blue translucent accents.

The main compartment will have a 6-9” adjustable water height and a bracket to hold up to 3 heaters.

I decided to switch back to socks for convenience. I make a huge mess with polyfil and I can buy a couple dozen socks in bulk and just toss them in the washer with vinegar when dirty. I setup a drying storage rack in the big closet off my room.

Since we are still doing stuff in the house and truck it’ll take a while to get the new sump done.

Exciting things happening all over your home!

Going to use screw-on brackets for dosing lines?

My fish order showed up late but alive.

They are all eating well. The water isn't clear because I decided to put live sand in the tank about 4 hours before they got there. (I know, dumb!)

I got the following:

5 blue damsels (chrysiptera so they aren't mean)
Coral Beauty
Golden head sleeper goby
golden toadstool coral (dipped and put in the reef tank on the sand bed for acclimation)

I will leave the fish in the 16" cube tank for observation for 28 days and then take a water sample, slime scrape and a sample of the sand and view them under a microscope and look for pathogens. If none found, I will acclimate and introduce them to the reef.

If pathogens are found, I will start on the appropriate treatment regimen.

I plan on doing a good cleaning of the reef this weekend moving some corals to their permanent home.

Hopefully, my buddy can make it this weekend and the new canopy can go up. I hope I can find the acrylic canopy a home. It's too nice to not be used.

I haven't decided on the brackets for dosing lines. I am going to make heater brackets for up to 3 heaters.
If you'd like some input on the dosing options then just ask. In the meantime, here's some other input: I hate you.
