well for the first time ever, I had a jebao product fail and not wear out.

The DMP30 keeps erroring out with 03 after 7 minutes of resetting it. This should mean it's running dry or out of alignment. Neither is the case. I have asked for a return/refund from the seller.

Going back to all Tunze for circulation. I still have two Jebao pumps for return and UV that have been running for a year. I have one on my pond that has been outside with the controller under a rock on my pond that has been there for two years. The previous one on my pond lasted 7 years.

Oh well, live and learn.

Turns out only one of the shrimp I got are true lysmata. I picked up a butterfly a week ago and he has been picking at the aptasia.

Today I am getting a green filefish that has a proven record of cleaning up a 180 that was infested but will have to catch him when he gets caught up because he goes after Zoas when he runs out. Worth it.

Almost done cutting th baffles for my new sump. Just had customer stuff to do that pushes my stuff off.

If anyone knows of a reasonably priced source of 3/8” cast acrylic please let me know. Small batch suppliers are outrageous and I can’t afford the pallet cost just for a couple projects. I’m looking for three pieces of 18x36.

All good stuff!

Hey - I heard back about the Berghia from one of the connections. He sold out and is waiting to repopulate. I gues it didn't help that I told him they were for you because the temperament of the convo went something like this;
Me - "Got any Berghia?"
Him - "How many and how big?"
Me - "Well, I am not too sure as they are for a friend named Steve. Maybe you know him. He goes by @dantimdad on R2R."
Him - "Yeah, I know exactly who that guy is. I am out of Bergia for the next couple months."
Me - "So what else is new, exciting and different?"
Him - "I cannot believe you would be friends with that guy."
Me - "Let's move on."

I happen to know that @tharbin is populating Berghia now too. Not sure how far off he is from selling them but I have a feeling he'll let us know.

Probably quite a while as I'm still waiting for the first egg spirals to hatch. I have about twenty spirals in the tank though and I seem to be pretty good at growing their feed stock.

OK gang brief update.

I was traded a really nice sump so I am taking most of the parts I have cut/printed and modding it.

I am going to be a little scarce. Our lab Luna was spayed Wednesday and the vet botched the job. She got an abdominal infection that required two surgeries, drains and IV antibiotics and she still may not pull through. She is in the hospital until tomorrow morning. Sherry and I are just beside ourselves.

Please, please pray for the baby.

Luna update:

She is home and resting and finally ate and drank. She is on antibiotics and pain meds and wearing the cone of shame.

We go Friday to have the drains removed.

At this point she has improved from 10% odds Saturday to 80-90% now. We will take it.

As long as the infection doesn't come back she will be in the clear.

I really appreciate all the well wishes I got from you all. It means a lot. I can always count on the folks who follow this thread for humor, support and encouragement. Except for @That Crusso Kid he's kind of a jerk. 🤣

Thanks again everyone!

hey, @Lowell Lemon I am adding acrylic heater holders to my sump. I have always wondered if you have see these deformed by the heat from a titanium heater. Google was more confusing than help.

A lot of manufacturers include them so I assume they are safe.

Never used that back in the day but it should work. Our commercial units had heaters built into the filtration skids.

So, new skimmer arrives today. I have been wanting to try a tunze skimmer for years and just didn't pull the trigger. With all the issues of overflowing then not skimming at all I have had and the difficulty doing maintenance on the D8, it was time.

I am going to be able to work on the tank this weekend including installing the new sump (which will require a slight modification to the stand to get it in), new drain plumbing, very large water change and mods to the sump before it goes in. Before all that, I am going to do a cleaning and swap out two of the T5 bulbs for Giesemann actinics. It's just too white right now.

Luna continues to improve. We take her for a follow up and hopefully have the tubes removed tomorrow.

I appreciate all the concern guys.

D8? What happened to the Curve 7? I must have missed the change.

Sounds like you have a healthy "to do" list for the weekend. I'll be shocked if you get it all done because you're a slacker.

So happy to learn that Luna is getting healthier by the day!

I will be shocked as well!

I never started up the 7 I sold it to a buddy and found the d8 in storage. The curve 7 and 9 are good skimmers but the specs have them on too big of tanks to work well.

We are going today to follow up with the Vet that did the emergency surgeries. Hopefully she will get a clean bill of health. She is bouncing back way faster than we were told to be honest.

I will update as I make progress this weekend. The new skimmer showed up at 8:30 last night finally.

Well, Crusso, you jinxed me.

Got the mods done, the skimmer assembled and was about to pull the old sump and plumbing and I cracked a pipe and bulkhead fitting. Luckily I was able to stop it from leaking before it even lost a whole gallon of water.

But, I am not messing with it until I get another set of hands to help me finish. It was impatience and trying to do it alone that caused the accident.

No worries, the fish are fine and I can wait until next weekend since we aren't going out of town. My reefing buddy said he would come help and we should be able to knock it out pretty quickly.

Besides, I am waiting to hear back from Tunze to see how I run ozone with the new skimmer since it's kind of a closed loop for the air intake.

I am going to monitor temp, ph, ORP and salinity with an Apex my buddy is giving me. Not going to control anything. Just want it to monitor stuff and keep tabs on parameters so the Ozone doesn't get way off. That and the ozone will be setup in the next month or so.

I may mod the sump to have a fuge since it has a top of reservoir I don't need built in. I think I will put a bulkhead fitting into that compartment from the skimmer section and drill a row of holes about 12 inches up from the bottom that drain into the return section. But, if I run out of time, I may not do it at all. LOL

BTW, Luna's tubes came out. No infection! The staples come out this coming Friday and the cone of shame comes off next Monday. I will be so glad to play catch with her again.
