Using Tunze Skimmer the venturi should provide enough pressure to intake the Ozone. If not a very small air pump throttled back may work on the intake.
problem is the air intake plugs into the skimmer body to do an "auto level". I don't want to mess that up. But, I think you may be right and that's what will happen. Just verifying with Tunze. Hopefully they answer quickly

Well, Crusso, you jinxed me.

Got the mods done, the skimmer assembled and was about to pull the old sump and plumbing and I cracked a pipe and bulkhead fitting. Luckily I was able to stop it from leaking before it even lost a whole gallon of water.

But, I am not messing with it until I get another set of hands to help me finish. It was impatience and trying to do it alone that caused the accident.

No worries, the fish are fine and I can wait until next weekend since we aren't going out of town. My reefing buddy said he would come help and we should be able to knock it out pretty quickly.

Besides, I am waiting to hear back from Tunze to see how I run ozone with the new skimmer since it's kind of a closed loop for the air intake.

I am going to monitor temp, ph, ORP and salinity with an Apex my buddy is giving me. Not going to control anything. Just want it to monitor stuff and keep tabs on parameters so the Ozone doesn't get way off. That and the ozone will be setup in the next month or so.

I may mod the sump to have a fuge since it has a top of reservoir I don't need built in. I think I will put a bulkhead fitting into that compartment from the skimmer section and drill a row of holes about 12 inches up from the bottom that drain into the return section. But, if I run out of time, I may not do it at all. LOL

BTW, Luna's tubes came out. No infection! The staples come out this coming Friday and the cone of shame comes off next Monday. I will be so glad to play catch with her again.

Brother, you were jinxed long before I graced your life.

That's no good. Did you try hitting it with a different brand of 400 or 600 after this? Maybe even an 800 or 1200 wet sand might take it off.

I had thought about 800 wet sand but honestly, it looks pretty good in person.

The calculated flow through one of those holes is about .9GPM so 7 holes 6.3 GPM or roughly 378 GPH.

Should be plenty for a fuge on a 160 gallon setup.

I am running a 1/2" bulkhead fitting with a dual duckbill lock line output.

Pretty sure I am going to run an MJ1200 pump for the fuge part.

Good news!

Tunze replied. I can just T it in with the air supply.

This will make it super simple to run Ozone. I will put carbon in the output filter bag to soak up the excess ozone, if any.

I plan on running a very low dose to start and ramp up from there. looking forward to crystal clear water and knocking out two pieces of equipment for one. Going to take the carbon reactor and UV out. It's time for a bulb change anyway.

Sump will be cleaned again today and stand mods finished to accommodate it.

I am still torn about the fuge light. I have an a360we Tuna Sun That is just sitting around. I also have several amazon flood lights that I used to use on planted tanks and I could always makes something custom.

I really like the idea of the Tuna Sun. Thoughts?

Just use the Tuna Sun. Seems like it is the simplest and easiest option. Would I use it? Maybe but, since I know you're a fan of taking the easy way out of anything and everything, that's the logical choice for you.

You may not want to remove the UV. If you do, I recommend building in a way to attach it easily should you every need to hook it up. You know, tees, shut-off valves, unions, thingamabobs and thingamajigs. However, I know you'll probably not do this because you're a fan of taking the easy way out of everything and anything.

I am leaving it mounted to the wall. Just pulling the hoses and pump and unplugging it. If necessary it will take about 15-20 minutes to fire it back up after a bulb change.

I chose the Kessil for fuge light. Way overkill but it can be turned down.

I mixed a couple different designs in tinkercad and came up with this.

I have a little adjusting to do but for $2 worth of filament I’ll take it.

Luna had the staples removed today. Good lord there were 30 of them! She handled it like a trooper.

Vet gave her a clean bill of health.

Tomorrow and Sunday is the sump swap. Should be interesting.

The plan is mix 32 gallons of water in the morning, drain the sump, remove it and the top off container and take the removable end panel out.

Then I will widen the opening in the end of the stand to fit the new sump in and install the end panel back and at least start the plumbing

In the afternoon I will place the skimmer and pumps in and neaten all the wiring.

Sunday will fill the sump with water, give the tank a good cleaning and fill the ATO and fire up the return pump, move the heaters back down from the display and turn on the fuge pump.

Finally, turn on the new skimmer and put in the filter cup in the sock holder

I still need to swap in the actinic bulbs but done think that’s gonna happen.

Sounds like a nice project.

Ok got the final cleaning on the sump done and modified a cleaning magnet to hold the fuge pump bracket

IMG_1346.jpeg

I think they used weather stripping or something on the sump. It took 8 magic erasers total, a credit card and sanding the top with 220, 400 and 600 grit to get it to look halfway decent.
