Salt in the brute can, ATO installed and full. Temp in brute can still a few degrees low but I usually fill to the same mark and put in 14 cups and am really close to 1.0250-.026. I will just let it mix until tomorrow morning and see what happens.

So, it appears that I may actually finish this up this weekend.

Going to lunch with a buddy tomorrow who is going to give me an apex setup. I only want it to monitor temp, ph, ORP (backup the ozone generator) and salinity. I probably will only control the Ozone as a backup in case for some reason, it doesn't shut off like it's supposed to. Other than that, I don't want to rely on automation other than my lighting setup through Alexa.

For those of you that have a trident: can you use it just to push monitor not dose?

I use all for reef and don’t really want to switch off of it. But, I would like to monitor.
I do not have a Trident, or an Apex or an anything but Google is sometimes useful...

Yes, a Neptune Systems Trident can be used exclusively for monitoring calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium without utilizing its automated dosing features. It requires a Neptune Apex controller (Apex, Apex EL, or A3) to operate, but you can simply set up alerts via the Apex Fusion app to notify you of parameter changes instead of controlling dosing pumps.
Key Considerations for Monitoring-Only Use:
  • Requirements: A Trident, an Apex head unit (brain), and power supplies are necessary; an Energy Bar is not strictly required but makes power management easier.
  • Functionality: It will still automatically test water 2-4 times a day, providing 24/7 data and alerts if levels drift.
  • Benefits: This setup provides consistent, automated testing for stability without the complexity of configuring automated dosing, allowing you to manually adjust supplements based on the data.
  • Data Access: All results are stored, graphed, and viewed in the Apex Fusion app.

Thanks bud! When I googled it said no. lol Gotta love the inter webs.

So it's filled up and running!

The fuge is too loud. I have to figure out a way to quiet the output into the return section. I have an idea....

Only thing left to do is one the heaters down, clean the tank, clean up my room and enjoy.

Next week, when the skimmer is broken in and settled down and I have the apex, I will fire up the ozone generator, setup monitoring on an iPad at the tank and on my phone for remote. I will also add chaeto.

The tank, accept for the fuge which is shut off right now, is more quiet than the 12 foot planted tank. When I get doors on the stand it should run at a whisper.

OK got loaded down with Apex stuff, A2, EB8, two leak detectors, several probes and holder, Trident, 2- FFMs.

Now to sort through, test it and see what needs replacing. I am pretty sure all the probes will need to be.

Got the apex account created, unlinked the unit from the previous owner and linked to my account.

I have a few probes here that are filthy and would bet they won't work. I sure hope at least salinity works they are really expensive.

The new skimmer is just incredible. Quiet and pulling out nasty stuff already.

The tank already looks better.

I am turning back on the auto water change tomorrow and starting the all for reef dosing.

A buddy is coming to grab some parts for his reef and helping with the bulb change to the actinics Wednesday.

I have always had good results with Tunze products and I like their Protein Skimmers.

Years ago I had the horizonal weird one and it worked amazingly well for it's size. I have never gotten too far away from their power heads. Now, 100% glad I went back to their skimmer with the 9410. It's literally plug in and just empty it when needed.

Senior moment!

I forgot to turn on the ATO! DOH!

I walked in this morning to alka seltzer tank. lol.

I think I will setup an optical level sensor when I get the apex setup to send me a warning if it gets too low that way I know I left it off when doing maintenance.

Fuge baffle isn’t gonna work because the opening is too small to get it in there. I have another plan I will try today.
Pics of what you're trying to accomplish as two heads are better then one. And three are better than two. And four are better than three. Even if they're all cabbages.

Well it turns out the ATO has gone bad. Only had it 7 years. Do better Tunze. lol.

A new one is $249. I am running a nano osmolator I still had new in the box as a stop gap.

Just wondering if the model 3 is as good as the original or should I look at something else. The reviews are mixed depending on the site.

Opinions?

I got the breakout box done and mounted and the eb8 and apex unit mounted and reconnected to WiFi. The new ph probe will be here Friday.

Starting Saturday I am on PTO but will only be working on the house and yard. Lots and lots going on in that arena.

You want my opinion? Really?

Okay then... you should get yourself a 5 gallon can of gasoline, pour it on yourself then take a match... oh, wait, did you mean about the ATO?

Just shell out the two fiddy and get the Osmo 3. If you happen to have a problem with it, Tunze is second to none with problematic equipment.
