fish constantly kicking sand up.

Pretty much every fish I have in my DT likes to kick up the sand bed. tang, fox face, 2 damsels, 2 clown fish, puffer. is this all normal. it makes for a unclean display to watch with sand particles floating in the DT. does anyones other fish do this?

Lol yep mine do it a lo, I don’t worry about it cause it eventually settles down. :D

You might be able to mitigate with PH positioning.

Other than ones that live under the rocks like our watchman goby, we only have one that does this. Our Lt tang can make you think a power head fell in the sand at times. He apparently does not like any sand or shells or anything in the home he made under some rocks.

Are they flashing or purposely kicking up sand? Some fish just like being messy.

Is there a reason they do this? Because in my 20g i only have 2 clowns and some inverts and corals, but ive seen them kick up the sand a few times. Why is that? Just typically crazy clownfish behaviour or defending from smth?
*Also off topic but I was bitten for the first time by my fish yesterday. Cleaning up dinos I scraped off and male clown bit my finger. He was just defending his woman so i get it *

One of my Gladiators is constantly clearing the sand in one location under a Vargas Cespitularia that it likes to host. This clown does such a good job that often times you can see the bare bottom of the tank.

In addition, if a snail wanders over to that section of sand next to the Vargas Cespitularia the Gladiator head butts it out of the area.

Yes, the female maroon clown and blue hippo will move sand and small shells. The clown will clean up her house, the tang will in the search for more food. We used a 40lb ocean direct and a 40lb Hawaiian black in the 75g so it isn't that messy as sand grains are mostly large.
