Fish ID - Caught in the gulf of mexico

Hey, we found this fish in some aqua-cultured rock from the Gulf.

Any ideas?

I'm thinking some sort of cardinal.

You always find me! It looks kind of close, but it looks like those cardinals are found in the pacific.

Yeah we are looking through books and checking sites we use and we can't find it anywhere. I think we have a few of them too.

Looks like some type of Cardinal for sure

Thanks to FB we're looking at it being a juvenile Grunt. Either French or Tomate.
