No big updates. I still am not able to locate a 75g or 90g that is non-tempered. I have called 8 LFS in NJ and The Hidden Reef in PA and none are able to get one. Fishes are doing well!

Two weeks ago I located a 75g that was a 2 hour drive South one way. After making many phone calls, I found a 40b at a petco that was a hour north East from my home. I checked both with polarize sunglasses to see if it is non-tempered. My plan is to drill the 75g this weekend. If I crack or it’s tempered glass I will then drill the 40 breeder call it a day.

@Paulie069 Thank you!!!!

I bought a coral from someone here on R2R yesterday. It should be a good size since the plug is 1 1/8". Should be receiving it next week. It'll stay in QT for 6 weeks.

Well let me update this thread. I first drilled the 75g and it was tempered because it exploded into little pieces. Dropped the tank at the recycle center. So off I went to drill the 40g. Placed the tank on its side, Modular Marine template on the outside of the tank, the 1x4 wood on the inside and clamped it all down. Ran the stream of water. Drilled both holes. Decided since it's all setup for drilling, I might as well drill the hole for the return line. I got a scrape pieced of plexiglass and setup my drill press to make a template for the return line. I drill the hole on the tank. I remove the MM overflow template and my return template. The 1st hole I drilled for the overflow has a large scallop on the outside of the tank that extends past the gasket, hole 2 and 3 are absolute perfect. So this tank is also go to the recycling center! :(Maybe 3 times a charm!

There was no way to use it. I bought another 40B. I drilled the overflow and a return on the 40b, so I am set with the tank. Just wish the tank was bigger than a 40B. I received today the pvc pipes and ball valve from BRS today. I will go to Lowe’s this week for pvc parts/cement

I finished the stand frame. I painted two 3/4" 18"x44" boards that will be placed where the two 40b were will sit. Cutting the two boards are next and plumbing

The tank build is coming along slow as snail.:rolleyes:

I primed and painted the inside 2x4s. Also painted the back of the aquarium black. I had to cut the 2 bulkheads that goes through the tank to the overflow box. The threaded end post were in my way inside the overflow box. I couldn't get the 3 pvc bean animal drains inside with them so long. I though I was going to crack the bulkhead while hacksawing the threads to make it shorter. I think they are okay. We will see when I fill with water in the future. I started today with planning the plumbing. Wow it's stressing me out.

I saw the most beautiful fish today. It was at the most oddest location....Petco! A Potter's leopard wrasse, It was only $60. I wish this tank was bigger so I could have bought it.

I am almost done with the plumbing. I have two support hangers to connect and I am waiting on a delivery of silicone tubing from BRS for the pump to the pvc. I cut the pass through bulkhead threads to shorten it so that I will be able to do the bean animal

Thank you @fishguy242! Not too bad for a female LOL. Hopefully nothing leaks or DT cracks because I tightened too much.
I am not far behind you on my build of a 40b/20 gal. Whose baffle kit did you purchase? Are you using socks or cups? The wrasse is gorgeous! I want one now. What do you feed him? Will he accept flake food?

Looks good so far. That sucks about the run around you got about getting tanks.

Wish I saw this thread earlier, I have 3 brand new 75g tanks sitting in my garage with cardboard still on them. I'm in the Poconos if you ever want to try a 75 again just let me know.

Hi Elaine!

It's a Fuji Cube baffle kit. https://www.fijicube.com. He eats anything...total piggy. I feed my tank frozen food.
