Looks good so far. That sucks about the run around you got about getting tanks.

Wish I saw this thread earlier, I have 3 brand new 75g tanks sitting in my garage with cardboard still on them. I'm in the Poconos if you ever want to try a 75 again just let me know.
May take you up on that. Let's see how successful my plumbing is first. I saw a Leopard wrasse at my local Petco. What a beautiful fish. He would need a bigger tank then my 40b

You are braver than me to do the drilling! I paid to have it done. But then I had spent over $230 on my Seapora rimless tank.

I had a Deep Blue 90g then my son took it. Seapora bought out Deep Blue. They are great tanks!

No LFS would drill my tank....even if I bought it from them. Aqueon wasn't guareenting tank that normal are non-tempered in still being non-tempered

Agreed. I spoke with Aqeuon twice and they don't keep up with what type of glass is going into the tanks. They couldn't even provide me with the inside measurements of a 20 gal for baffles. I bit the bullet and got a nicer tank that I knew could be drilled. Why did you go with the 150 skimmer and what return pump are you going to use?

The skimmer and pump I got last Christmas as a gift. I was planning on a 75g or 90g. It's still in the plastic wrap as I got it. The pump is a Sicce Syncra 6.0. I hope they will work with the 40b display tank and 40b sump.

Yes I just looked at the manual. 530-1450 us gph....Ohhh I'm excited! There is an app to control the pump. This is automation for me. I still dose, add top off water and do water tests daily by hand.

Not much to report. Yesterday I tested the plumbing and DYI sump for leaks. All good. I got two new frags from @AquaSD today in the mail. Order pods from @AlgaeBarn today. I bought two 10' conduit pipes and I bent each with a 90 degree angle. I will be spraying them black, attaching them to the stand and hanging the @ATI T5 fixture from it.

Christmas eve 2020 was stressful. We were forecasted for snow, but got high winds and lots of rain. I guess it was good it was rain even though the kids were hoping for a white Christmas. We lost power a little after 11 PM on Christmas Eve as I was carrying Christmas presents from our basement hiding spot to the first floor where the tree is located. With no power, our oven, stove and of course the microwave didn't work. Christmas dinner menu had to change and I happened to have steaks in the freezer. So on Christmas evening I turned on the built-in Viking outside b'que that uses natural gas. The grill manifold got a hole from corrosion. Natural gas was leaking/flames was shooting from areas where fire should not be. Now the gas got turned off for a few hours to deal with the b'que. We had cold leftovers for Christmas dinner. It was an eventful night which we will talk about for years to come. Our power came back on Sunday night. The temp in the house got down to 37 the first night. Saturday and Sunday house temp was in the high 20s. Tank temp got down to low 40F. Lost my Strawberry Shortcake colony and mini colony of Pink Cadillac. I think my JS Frankies Gumdrop might make it. I started filling the new 40B DT and 40B diy sump today. It's almost filled. I still need to wrap the stand.

Tank got wet on Monday. Tested yesterday and today. Hanna Nitrite ULR read 0.052 ppm. According to Hanna The ideal concentration of nitrite in a reef aquarium is less than 0.2 ppm. Did a NYOS Nitrate test today and read 2. Haven’t had time to test Phosphates today. Will do that later. I think tomorrow I will start to transfer my rocks for my old tank to the new tank. I was working on a different rocks Scape to add with the old rocks.

I bought some SPS yesterday. They will arrive on Jan 27. They will go straight into my Quarantine tank

Received yesterday 15 pounds of live rock shipped and water from KP aquatics. It is in a holding aquarium for water change And observation. Only possible pest so far has been a crab. The rocks are fabulous

On day two of having the rock in quartini, these two beauties showed up. They were ID by crab mcjones and KJ as:

#1 looks like an epitoke
#2 Is a bobbit no doubt

I haven't see anything else in the tank since.

I know I am over complicating this and being overly cautious.

I hate API tests. Would you feel comfortable in adding rocks to a DT if this is the ammonia results?

I did not place the skimmer into the sump yet. Planning to do that today. The new tank has 4 fish, snails, 8 zoas frags, 7 LPS AND 1 surviving SPS, and 80% of my old rocks from the transfer from the old DT. The old tank was 3 years old. Current DT transfer was done on the 1st.
