In my tank I have 3 wrasses:
Radiant Wrasse (Stymie)
Yellow wrasse (Spanky)
Blue Star Leopard (Dennis the Menace)
I purchased a Icecap fish trap for two reasons. 1) to catch Dennis the Menace and 2) eventually, I’m gonna have to move all the fish to the new display tank
Dennis the Menace only allows Stymie to occupy 1/4 of the DT. There are times during the day when Dennis the menace would go over to Stymie’s area to harass her. As soon as I look over the tank, Dennis the Menace knows I caught her and she goes flying back to her side of the tank. She knows she’s not supposed to do that.
I placed the trap towards the top of the tank the way the instructions provided. I left it in there one week without food so they would get used to the box being inside the tank. Week 2 to week 4 I placed food in the tube to entice them to come in. The Wrasses would not go near it, but the Cardinals both would go inside. When the yellow wrasse was near the box opening a few times, Dennis the Menace would nose the side of the yellow wrasse so she wouldn’t go in.
Weeks five, I placed the box on the sand while they were sleeping. I don’t know if I would ever been able to trigger the door to close with it being that far down. But yet again no one would go in. The box stayed on the sand for three weeks.
