Flame Angel in a Reef Tank? Yay or Nay?

Some say they nip at corals, some say they don't. What has been your experience?

I been keeping one for at least 2 years with Zoas, LPS, and softies with no problems, so I say yes.

Yep, sorry, another person for hit or miss. I've had good luck with my Potter's, but I've only had her for 7 mos and people have had the fish do complete turnarounds after having them multiple years, even. They nip something, decide they like it, then decimate it. I say if you want one, go for it and just be prepared to take action in the best interest of the fish if it does nip corals you want to keep.

Considering how much fun it is to catch a fish...I think I will just pass haha.

Any suggestions for a bright, medium sized fish that would do well in a 75 Gal mixed reef with a:

Yellow Tang
Tomato Clown
Lyretail Anthias
Clown Goby

You could always go for a nice wrasse. They are really colorful. There are some that are considered "reef safe".

Flasher wrasse would be really cool.

I second the wrasse. You could go with a Flasher, Fairy, Leopard, one of the Halichoeres genus, and so on. Tons of variety, of course some is more expensive than others. You might be able to do a trio of Lyretail Anthias or maybe even a gorgeous single male of a species of your choice. I'm not sure if any would be too big to be fine on their own.

ive had one for three years now. every now and then i see him nip on a softy.

We HAD a flame. It was a beautiful fish. Then after adding an Acan frag to the tank it turned BAD. We had to darn near disasemble the the entire tank to get it out. We tried all the traps. Tried everything! (Smart Fish!) Then we took out most of the top layer of rock to catch it. Needless to say we will never have another angel!

I think it's going to be a wrasse, but not sure which one yet. I want to make sure everyone will get along though. It's been probably a year since I added a fish.
