I think you are right, it was just too small to handle any problems or issues, whether they be specimen related, or tank related. 1-2mm of recession on a 4mm piece is a lot worse than 1-2mm of recession on a 1" piece :)

Luckily 1. it really wasn't my favorite 2. I'm about to get my last chalice that I've been looking for and 3. I'm completely out of room in my tank :bigsmile:

Im getting my bpc famethrower today...should I put it on my frag rack about 6-9in. from the light?

I think that algae all around it has been a problem. Algae will impede coral growth and even kill coral tissue. Scrape what algae you can off of it and toss it is a bowl of tank water with some hungry hermits or other algae eater and let them do a clean job for you. Otherwise, think it is a goner.

Both the ft and pb are light loving chalices. Just make sure to acclimate them to your lighting system.

I have a tyree red WM that has the same type of algae on the plug as your FT and it hasnt grown a freakin milimeter in a year.I believe the algae inhibitis the growth on some of these lps corals and can eventually even kill it.I will try scraping the algae and maybe even mounting it to another plastic(instead of ceramic)plug and see if that helps.GL with yours

Personally I would not move it up until it starts doing a little better. I would say the algae on the plug is whats really bothering it. I have had numerous FT frags that I thought had no chance of recovery but they pulled through. It tends to be a very resilient chalice. Clean off the disk, set it down low and leave it alone for a couple of month's. The key is to not disturb it while it heals.

I had some of that algae on my pb's frag plug...and my turbo snail ate it..all of it he is the size of a golfball
