Hi everyone,

i have an innovative marine nuvo 30 tank. it came with a pump that according to their website does 317gph. i was thinking increasing flow would be a better idea. i have a reef tank. live rock, live sand, 2 clowns and as of now 5 coral, mostly softies and lps.

I bought the maxijet 1200 which is rated:
  • Powerhead Flow Rate: 295 GPH
  • Circulation Flow Rate: 1300 GPH
I thought since it is in the bottom of my overflow and "circulating" the water back from the overflow columns to the tankn via spin stream return nozzle, i am getting 1300gph. someone told me it is actually only 295gph. so in essence did i decrease my flow? i dont have it set up as a powerhead as above, i am confused. please help and if i did decrease it with this, can someone recommend a quality pump that wil gte me to 600+ gph. thanks!

yes,

you decreased your flow. to get the 1300 gph on the maxi jet you have to put the propeller in with the other housing.

i would change back to your old pump for the return and then put the maxi jet with the propeller inside the tank for some serious flow
