I dosed Reef Flux (fluconazole) about 19 days ago. Around day 14, I started to see the caulerpa algae finally declining. As expected, my nitrates have been climbing and are now sitting around 30–35 ppm. I’m not running a skimmer.

If I do a large water change to bring nitrates down, then re-dose Reef Flux, is that a safe/acceptable approach to keep knocking back the caulerpa?

Really, I'm just second guessing myself on this. Would a chemical nitrate reducer be more practical?

It has been a while since I used fluconazole but I believe the redesign cycle is after 3 weeks. Sometimes it can take 3 cycles or more to get rid of the root algae depending on what you are targeting.

So dose → wait 3 weeks → water change → re-dose if needed, up to a few cycles?
