When I started dose fluor I noticed an increase in alkalinity consumption. Not sure if this was a coincidence but at same time I started to try to understand more of the Calcification process and especially its incorporation of po4.
Could it be as in human, that fluor promotes the formation of calciumphosphate (hydroxyapatit) also in coral skeletons and hense make it much harder and resistant. That is what happening in human when fluor is present in the Calcification process. Also, we know that fluor can replace hydroxid ions and instead formate the even more stable structur fluoridapatit.
Is this one of reasons that it's important with some fluor in marine water, and explanation why alkalinity consumption increased when I dosed fluor?

I’m not sure fluoride is important or useful since tanks seem to do fine without maintaining it.

I started a discussion thread and got mixed responses on the benefit when folks used it.

Randy. I did my first phosphate p04 test ever (after 7 years) I have a 105g fowlr. Will a GFO reactor do the job? Also will this explain why anthias and angles die a few days after adding them?

Super high 😬

But that doesn't say it's not beneficial, could have been even better if dosed fluor. I was on same opinion long time but after with guiding of icp tests started ti dose up to NSW levels, I noticed a remarkable increase in alkalinity consumption. And as fluor is involved in strengthening calcification by favour incorporating of po4 and also incorporate itself as fluroapatit, I think its interesting if we know anything about this?

Another aspect of this, is that fluoride maybe could decrease the damage that acidification can do, as fluoride makes the skeleton stronger and it can replace the carbonate ions. We know that corals incorporates fluor in the skeleton and that fluor strengthen the skeleton structure. We also know that fluor, like strontium, may be a precursor for calcification overall.
So not strange I found an increase in alkalinity consumption maybe when I raised fluor up to NSW?
Its an interesting field.
Maybe we can increase coral strenght overall ny maintenance fluor at nsw. If corals have more easy to build its skeleton , it takes less energy for coral to build it's structure. That must be beneficial in other ways aswell.
