From what I know on cichlids, and clowns seem to follow suit, she must have decided that he wasn’t a suitable mate for a variety of reasons, usually involving not being good at protecting the nest. At least that’s how cichlids do it. Perhaps it is also breed dependent, designers are said to be meaner than wild type.Odd wonder why the other clown killed the smaller one. I know I have 2 bonded pairs one doesn’t fight at all but my oldest pair still has drama where the female picks on the male from time to time
