If and when you do set up the new tank will you be making a separate build thread for it?
Already have one!

edit: whoops, I just realized I previously posted the link to this thread! My bad, lol!

Feel free to catch up on future updates in the new thread!! This thread will still have all the updates on the Fluval tank’s future, however.

I should mention that I’ve gained confirmation that velvet was not the killer of my firefish or royal gramma. I was afraid that the rapidness of the deaths was parasitic, but it turns out that it was Luxo all along. I was suspicious of this, but now I’ve got confirmation…

So I was planning on putting the clown and goby through QT before putting them in the 40B, just to monitor if anything popped up. However, within an hour the clownfish shredded up the goby. The tail’s been bitten all the way to the flesh, but I’m just glad I noticed this last night, because she would have definitely been killed overnight. I decided that I would skip quarantine for the goby and just put her directly into the 40B (I also skipped acclimation, which wasn’t ideal…)

So far she’s taken refuge with the pistol shrimp (hopefully they finally pair!) and is still doing alright this morning. She’s pretty battered up, though. I can’t believe how nasty that clown is!
So there’s definitely been a change in plans, because not only is the 40B getting fish way sooner than expected, but it’s very likely that the clown will never go into the 40 gallon tank, on account for being perhaps the worst clownfish alive…

The Fluval is now set up as the quarantine tank for the 40 breeder.

It’s first inhabitants will be a coral beauty angel and a Longnose hawk that I’m ordering online. I’ll be doing heavy treatments on them, simply because I do not trust online fish vendors, but a good price is still a good price.

Like a plague.

The real problem is there’s no true way to manually remove it. Doing so seems to encourage spread…

At least it looks nice…
To add, it grows large then sends shoots out to make more, etc. You may also find polyps scattered about to make more.
my LFS told me the stubby ones grow to be smaller than the ones from the wild. Dont know if its true or not
That makes sense. Stubby occelaris are in the same boat as all of the “balloon fish” and many fancy goldfish, they are selectively bred to have deformed spines which give them a smaller body.

Could I see it?
For sure, don’t want to hijack this thread, but here it is:

Sorry for the super blue picture but you get the idea. Almost fully covered 4x2 inch rock. Of course the Xenia makes it a whole lot bigger than that.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
