I have had my fluval evo for over a year and my goal for this year is to make it the most successful that I can. I have bought Chemi Pure Elite to put into the filtration. I have some eggcrate and plexie glass lying around and I thought about building a filter rack so it's not just sitting in the chamber. Has anyone done the same I also have a biocube protein skimmer that the local fs told me would be good to buy. I had it in the first chamber but it's such a tight fit and I didn't really need it. I have 1 Dunkin, 1 hammer, 2 mushrooms and 2 zoanthids so not much. I have a Milwaukee coming tomorrow and I bought pro marin salt to start making. I am open for any recommendations! ( I also purchased filter media bags to put the Chemi Pure Elite in since I have heard the bags are bad quality)

I am having phosphate issues so that's also why I purchased Chemi Elite Pure

Updated, I saw the tag that you have the 13.5? One thing I would worry about and building your own media rack is whether it will change how the water transitions through the media and not around the sides of whatever you build. I personally have the 5 gallon, which only has the one chamber for media and not the extra middle chamber.

you can just make racks out of pure eggcrate, zip ties and super glue. I do this for DIY frag racks.

I 3D printed mine and have to tweak it a few times to ensure the water flows through all filter media. Works great so far with no issues. I am now planning to build a media basket for the middle chamber.
