My Nero 3 power head arrived and I very swiftly realised this might be too powerful for my tank.

I have a Fluval Spec 16 gallon (similar to evo) The powerhead is angled to the overflow box, to help a surface film problem i am dealing with.

whilst my corals (gsp+lps) don’t seem to mind, im concerned for my clowns. The smaller male seems to be staying in the same area. Is this too much flow ?? Schedule below.

They might just be adapting to the new flow. Clowns are lazy and don’t love stronger currents, perhaps if you got them a nem they might be happier about where they stay but generally they’ll pick a part of the tank with low flow and just kind of “float” around that area

I would say it is when not turned down. 76x turnover rate is high for even SPS. I know lots of people will say, more is better and it will be, when you use a larger tank. This is not one of those. The Nero 3 was designed for larger AIO tanks but I have seen people keep there in systems this small. I recommend keeping the Nero at no more than 25% and typically at 2-4%. There's probably a program in there to do that I would think?

Also, when coralline eventually builds everywhere, you will want a larger powerhead so it will come in use. Just don't crank it.
