I kinda feel like this lights get a bad reputation. I know this light is a bit on the lower power range, but it works.

I have had one over my 29 gallon for 6+ months and so far I’m happy. I have some zoas, Ricordea yumas and Floridas, micromussa lords, Duncan, torch coral, monti cap, and a birds nest.

The torch actually started to bleach when placed 12 inches from the light. I turned down the white channe a bit and put it on the sand bed. And my birds nest has doubled in size since I got it two months ago at 12 inches down from the light. The Duncan went from 1 head to 6 heads in 3-4 months sitting on the sand bed.

I run the lights starting at 6am and slowly ramp up to 100% blues and purples, 50% red, and 65% whites. Those percentages are held from 10am to 3pm and then the lights ramp down until 7pm.

I have one 24" running on my 20g - only 18" depth and it seems to work well for that. I removed my screen top and had a long conversation with my fish about mental health... non have jumped yet (pray for me). If you want to keep your screen top I HIGHLY SUGGEST spray painting the mesh black. That will reduce the light absorption you are getting with the generic white screen. Similar settings to @myinvalidname :)

I have a 55g with a single light and a bubble anemone that's doing just fine and growing fast. It's high up on the rocks and it gets food often when I'm feeding the fish though.

For all those curious I’m doing a review of the Fluval Marine reef 3.0 for a low tech light it’s pretty good, the app is decent although without a par meter you might find yourself lost adjusting the spectrums the light by itself will support softies however for any LPS and SPS corals I would strongly suggest extra lighting seems pretty durable has a excellent water resistant rating of IP67 so it could be submerged and still be fine, I would recomend having this light directly above the water using the mounting legs it gives you and unobstructed from water as this light is not the strongest but not the worst by the time you get to 18” the PAR reading is around 55 so water penetration is not the best, At 3": PAR=390, At 12": PAR=102 this will get the job done for softies the blue spectrum on this light is fantastic the app has a sunrise and sunset mode witch works great I would recomend this light to new hobbyists as it is easy and user friendly and can maintain softies and if you want to get in to LPS or SPS and anemones you will need to add lighting that about sums it up thanks for reading feel free to hit me with more questions! The pictures are corals I have maintained under this light and this light only.

i can confirm that this light is outstanding for softies and the app is great because i spent a week getting the settings right and now i leave it alone

Sorry to revamp this thread.

I just purchases one of these lights for my 30 gallon tank. Right now the deepest part to my sand bed is 18".

I wanted to ask those who have similar tank size/ sand depth what settings the are running? I assume this will also depend on what's in my tank.

I'm just running one of the preset modes (deep sea glow) because I have no idea what my tank needs/can take. The only life I have in the tank are a BTA, Condy nem, small/medium Pom Pom Xenia and 2 clowns. The condy is still getting situated and that will probably continue with the new light. The BTA has been stationary fairly high with the original lighting (I assume this will change with the new light) and the Xenia has been in the middle grounds since acclimating and not sure if I will need to move it which I've been leaning towards because I just want to keep a small garden of it and not have it take over my LR.

Sorry for the rambling, the wife is annoyed of all the fish talk.

Any comments are appreciated!

im in the same boat i have a tall and really wide 4/1/2 foot 60 gallon and i have to have my settings at max during the day and run my blues at 100 percent at night to keep everything happy. doesn’t bother me but man my tank is booming

I’ve used these lights for years, I had the original version for 3 years without wifi/bluetooth, just a daylight or blue only switch, I upgraded to the v3.0 end of 2018. Ive used them over my 55g tank with 2x39w T5’s throughout and had excellent results on my mixed, mostly SPS tank. I did have to change the 3.0 under warranty last December as the blue channel had begun to flicker randomly. Fluval were excellent and the item was exchanged quickly without fuss.

I have the fluval and I like it a lot. I have acans and zoas and a hammer garden in a 20 long. It’s a shallow tank so penetration isn’t my biggest worry. So far the light has kept everything happy but the spread is weak and I might buy another and have them staggered slightly to cover OR go with a longer one. Either way. I’ve got nice growth and a lot of happy corals under these lights.

everything set to 100 on the sunny reef preset.
