Wee I found another one on the deck of boat. She came up from 122ft of water and had gas bubble real bad kept floating on top of bucket so I put my hand over her held her down at bottom. Took little over 15min for her to stay on her own. Both my hands r frozen. Water temp was 37

How are you fishing that you’re catching sea horses? Not being difficult, I just have no knowledge of how this is done. I suspect it’s not a tiny hook that’s going down that deep.

I’m a gill netter we set nets a mile long and pull em up every day to empty them The seahorses are usually hanging on to the web of net then fall off on deck of boat. That’s where I’ve found all my buddies

That’s awesome! It’s nice that you keep them. What do other gill netters do when they pull them up?

Probably throw them back or leave them on the net until the next set.

This is really cool you do this!

Thank you I feel I give them 2nd chance at life because I don’t think if I threw them back in ocean they would make too bottom before being eaten

Out on boat and all I can think about is the new seahorse I found yesterday. Hoping that she is well I’ve texted my daughters 4x already to get updates

Honestly, because of the netting, they take a huge decompression too fast, then a thermal shock.
Wild caught need special care at the beginning, 3 stages deworming, converting to frozen food... Maybe you should just put them back and let them hivernate in the deep

Trust me I’ve put back way more than I’ve ever kept. And ones I’ve kept are doing very well and seem to protect the new one
