It's not really bad so far. I'm reading hot water is good treatment. Idk. I'm a welder so my hands are pretty used to being in pain. Dang fish is a pig and every time I put a grazing ring into the tank he's right on me. Serves me right for not keeping my eye on the tank as I was putting it in.

The venom breaks down with heat, soaking in water as hot as you can tolerate w/out scalding will help.

Either I'm pretty immune to stings or it didn't get me with much poison cause it wasn't as bad as some bee stings I've had.

Just like bee stings, some people are affected worse than others, but being quick to run it under hot water helps.

So the wife wants him gone now. Scared of it. My kids like to feed the fish and she's worried about them. Oh well. Hmmm what should I trade him for....

Well I'm still alive! Lol. Really wasn't much pain at all. Still hurts a bit at the spot he got me but no big deal. Pain Radiated up my arm for a while but really wasn't as bad as I thought I was gonna be in for.

Well yes I posted than started googling. Idk alot of people say I'm really not right in the head. But I'm pretty sure none of us that have +5k in a fish tank are nuts.

Hate to admit what I have been stung, bit or poisoned by, but I'd say I speak from a place of experience. The larger the fish the less it hurts. been hit by a foxfire that was the cutest little 2" thing that brought me to my knees literally. The intense pain was like a flame on my hand for 30 to 45 minutes followed by some strange physical response to the pain. And yes I had vinegar and hot water on it in seconds. I have also been hit by an adult that was less than a bee sting. In talking with some others the prevailing theory is that older fish have more control on the amount of venom they release and younger fish have less. A baby fish is also more scared and hits you with everything and an adult gives you a warning shot. This theory is based off of experience mine and those spoken to. As well as taking into account the cost of producing venom to the animal. My experience takes into account fish and spiders bites or stings, the others are 8 fish geeks, 12 snake nuts, two spider-men and a fan of all things venomous(Can't believe he's still alive actually)
So how big was your foxface that didn't hurt a ton? Does it fit our hypothesis

I understand they can be bigger than this but I've had him for 2 years and he hasn't gotten any bigger in a while.

I just got stung on the side of my finger. I was stupid and tried to shoo him away from a coral I'm feeding.. didn't realize what fish I was shooing and he got me lol stings a little but not horrible. About 5 inches, so fits the theory.
