Zoas are typically pretty hardy....so most likely it was the low salinity and not properly acclimating.

Salinity is ok to me.. you don't have to keep your salinity at 1.026.. I did and half of my zoas fried.. I lowered mine to 1.023 and my entire tank loves it.. the zoas are not dead.. I would dip them and everything actually before you put it in your tank but dip your zoas in revive and iodine and rinse with tank water and put it in your tank.. it will open up I'm sure..
