Can this model be used in sump as well? The smaller one that looks the same design says it can... If so I'd be very interested! Never used a skimmer before but want to try one on my 50 gallon setup.

Yes, it can stand in the sump.

Does this go in the back chamber or a complete HOB set up?
It can either go in the back chamber or just hang on the aquarium.
Check the dimensions of the skimmer. See if it fits the back chamber of your aquarium.
