How do you identify them? I've had this guy since July, so far so good...
Also what does everyone feed them? I broadcast feed my tank oyster feast once or twice a week

That is a Maxima. According to James Fartherree, clams are filter feeders yes but rely on light for their energy primarily. Having said that, I feed my baby maximas:

live phyto
rotifers
Zeovit sponge
Oyster feast
MArine snow
Zooxanthelea from Algagen

Thanks for the link, very good info!
I know mine is a maxima, but is it French Polynesian? Is there a way to tell?

Update on mine. Both are still doing great with a little bit of growth. They are now in a 65g tank under 8x39w T5's. Have had them for about a year now.

Yes sir, run a reef octopus skimmer. Tank is BB with biopellets. Nitrate and phosphate are solid at 0 and I have recently been dosing some potassium nitrate. I am also debating on taking out almost all my biopellets.

Just for an update my maxima (French Polynesian) is going on a little over a year now. I bought him when he was a little under or at an inch. He's about 1.5 inches now.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
