Update on baby nem - liked to be by zoas and Xenia , hasn’t moved in 3 days so hopefully stays put! And fts. Blue lights only running for a bit to help stall caulerpa growth so I can try to remove some more - I have to take out more chaeto from refugium as it’s currently overloaded lol

attacked caulerpa with just my hands , got a big amount out but nowhere near enough. I am planning this weekend on taking rocks out with the suggestions of @Subsea and @Eagle_Steve and applying peroxide via toothbrush to the roots and aptasia while I’m at it lol

@shadow_k i knocked my Duncan off the rocks again yesterday lol it’s very mad at me during the pictures

Xenia is growing like crazy , gonna need to chop it up real soon.

Are we dosijg things in this tank ?
Yes, I don’t do waterchanges so I dose kalk via water top offs (1/8 tbspn per gallon) and I also dose polyp reef labs one for mag / cal / alk and Kent marine essential elements 5ml weekly. I also try to use AB+ because the corals love it , I was doing 5ml daily. And I also feed one cube of mysis daily soaked in selcon. I’ve been feeding the nems daily recently and it looks like it has helped and made the one in the last pic split (two nems kinda look like one)

was it hard to calculate how much kalk to use ? Cause my 5 gallon bucket of ato water takes 2 weeks to empty. Also it lowered my phosphates too much

My phosphates stay .05 to .3 so I don’t really worry about that but the 1/8 tbspn per gallon is I think a good minimum to start out , it’s not enough for my tank because I’m still dosing alk / cal / mg along with it but it keeps my tank more stable , like only falling .1dkh a day and keeps ph 8.3

Not too long after this my tank after some good deals with other reefers , I had rescued the tang from a lfs with ich all over ( I don’t qurantine ) and it recovered! Ye introducing disease probly wasn’t the best … but I believe healthy fish don’t get sick so I always supplement feedings with vitamin enrichment

I read the firsts & last page of your build thread. Glad to follow along.

First, congratulations on your engagement. It sounds like a good deal if she encourages you with your reef addiction. You are correct about healthy fish immune system being the best medicine.

Ooo okay I may do that after I get my phosphates down . There at .5 which is a tad high and once I figure out how much kalk brings it down I’ll start using it again. I have no sps so my dkh shouldn’t swing much

Finally all caught up. Your tank has filled in nicely. I’m jealous lol

good stuff man. Good stuff
Thanks man, I’m definitely budget lol so I think buying/trading with fellow reefer is the best way to go

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
