She was being shy. Tanks a bit small so I didn't do a pair of clarkii and I didn't want to mess around trying to get percs or occelaris to host. She was in the nem

within 15 minutes of being placed in the tank.
I really didn't plan on the carpet, just saw it at the lfs one day and had to have it lol. I had them hold it while I came home and added some sand as I was total barebottomx

Not this time around. I only have 3 fish in the tank including the clown and the two stay away. I did loose several fish before when I had a green one in a larger tank with a lot of active fish. I was ignorant and some nice fish paid the price :crying-face:

My absolute dream tank! I now have all 3 of my dream species of Rabbitfish, almost every species of Wrasse I used to look at and think it was too expensive yet looked stunning, oh and don’t forget the angels in a reef!

Here’s my work in progress. Cheap 75 gal from Petco. Aqua clear 110 filter, protein skimmer from Amazon, and nicrew 48 in. Saltwater light. There is about 150 lbs of rock and about 2 in sand bed.

This was my 900 x 450 x 450 AquaOne tank in March 2023.

New year's 2024 I thought the tank would be okay to leave for three days and of course the Vectra M2 suffered the thermistor error and the tank sat with no return pump and no skimmer for those three days. Incredibly, the only deaths were the corals within six inches of the surface, as this is how far the tank drained. The two MP10s and one ReefWave 45 were enough to keep all the fish and most of the inverts alive.

This was the tank last month:

Obviously the effects of the pump failure were more subtle than mere death. Certain corals became very dominant at the expense of others. The aiptasia situation became insane, and I had to resort to extreme measures: A Klein's butterfly. The tank quickly became obviously too small. Three clowns jumped (!). My beloved yellow coris wrasse jumped. Growth impeded flow, flow issues impacted overall biodiversity.

The answer was to upgrade to a Cade 900 (I only have a 1000mm space for a tank). The new tank has been set up for almost exactly a week now. No deaths. My second Illumina X4 arrives tomorrow. I guess I'll do a build thread once I have at least one "settled" looking FTS of the Cade.

So far the new tank is very impressive. Loving the gate valve on the downflow. Tweak it just right for absolute silence. The lack of water noise is part of why I've upgraded to the X4s -- as we know, the Hydra 32s have stupid-loud fans. Oh and this of course:
