Getting my feet wet again after being dry for far to long. Hopefully absorbed enough info from browsing around to have somthing successful.

Picked up a used a few times over IM50 with a couple throw-in things that will get replaced. The stand that was apart of it is the most barebones thing I have seen. So i had to brace it up for my nerves.

Plans are mixed reef mainly Zoa, and Lps. If i keep up properly I wanna try SPS for first time. I started the cycle with Dr Tims one and only and ammonia. The first couple days had trace ammonia i assume from the live sand so waited untill 3rd day to dose any. Slightly rushed with stocking hounstly, trying to get in on a Livestock sale at my LFS. 10% water change before and than 10% daily for a few days only because i could detect ammonia.(Redsea test). Luckily no issues and ammonia is gone.

Looks awesome so far ! Try and find a local that will give you a small price of live rock with coralline algae on it. I added a piece on week two and have purple coralline spots all over my rock now on week 8!
good luck !

First i installed the IM UV sterilizer, preventive maintenance hopefully? I just like extra gadgets if im being hounst.
Also got thr new return pump plumbed in(not as cleanly as hoped) with a Sicce 2.0. Like expected ~dead silent~ i had to turn the flow down just a bit.

Picked up a little somthin from a few sellers on here. Great experiences so far!

Hey! Thanks for the motivation. I was waiting for stuff to start happening lol.
Alot of little bits have changed!
20230219_090832.jpg

My livestock was almost complete! I had a great order with "Dr Reef" for the quarantined fish, they arrived healthy and ate the same night i added them. Minus a poor wrasse but they never ship well i hear?
So fish are now
~Pair of Clownfish
~Scissortail Dartfish
~Tailspot Blenny
~Lubbocks Fairy Wrasse
~Zebra barred Dartfish (new)
~Randall's Prawn Goby (new)
~Randall's Pistol Shrimp
The coral list is endless atm i tend to do collecting sadly....
But! I will post the numbers of types for a idea lol.
5Torch
4octospawn
2frogspawn
5hammer
44* diffrent zoa/paly
7Goni
5 favia*
5 Lithophyllon
7 diffrent mushroom types
7-8 acro
1 monti
2 chalace
2 blasto
1 fungia plate

Not to much in the way of "negatives" at the moment. Had alot of brown/green on my rocks but i did dry rock start so thats nothing surprising. Once i noticed some coralline spots at about 3-4 months i added ARC Coraline purple. Have alot of tiny bits growing so thats nice.
The tank is however COVERD is pineapple sponges. They started as a dozen or so large ones, but while moveing some euphyllia i smushed some and i think thats when the plague started lol. You can kinda see
20230219_091922.jpg
I now have a uncountable amount of them over eveything aswell as Spirorbid Worms.
Got some hitchhiking Ball anemones* aswell! I think they are neat.
20230218_170028.jpg

Had a light failure, cant blame the light its a original AI Hydra 52 non Hd. The director for it failed. Light works. NEW LIGHT
So i got the Reefbreeders photon.v2 Pro 24inch. Sounds like a great idea!
But i absolutely toasted some poor euphyllia on my sand bed.... raised the light 12inch and cut the light in half. Still not sure if its low enough. :(
I have only had 2 deaths, both coral. I droped a goni ontop of a hammer. Hammer LOST big time. Goni dident feel it. And a frag a Exosphere zoas just melted after 2 months and a new polyp growth :(

CURRENTLY
Tank has recently cleaned up, algea is almost nonexistent at the moment.
Temp: 77.0
S.G: 1.025 instant ocean
ALK: 7.7 dKH
Cal: 375ppm
Mag: 1155ppm
Po4: 0.064 ppm
No3: 15* ppm
I feed a mix of Rods food with a cube of PEmysis mixed together with a few drops of selcon. I split between 2/3 tanks i feed by eye twice a day.
I also just got a pack of SPS from Battlecorals apart of the 2 growout contests for 2023. So if you want to know how well a first timer with acros goes just tag along.

Any questions about anything just let me know!

How have all the fish and corals done since February?
I will do a full update this week! Not all good news, sadly.
Quick update: We had a nasty power outage... i think you see where this is going.
Well i lost a bit initially and more slowly after. All SPS, All but 1 LPS gone. Most Zoas and my single rockflower anemone are unkillable! Clownfish are sadly gone.

Update time!

Sorry for the lack of updates. Its basically been a downward slope. Documenting stuff dying is lame.
Had multiple power outages over a 3 month period, that took alot of the coral if not "immediately" than kinda gut punched them into decline.
Both clownfish passed, All other fish still happy and healthy. Thinking about adding some more wrasse. Maybe a yellow corris?

I have gotten back on track so to speak but algea has taken hold. Now i have to deal with alot of hair type algea and alot of bubble algea.

Will post pictures tomorrow morning when the lights are back on! 20231029_080517.jpg
This little zoa(rainbow incinerator) started off as 1 little polyp and hasent stoped growin! Everything else.... ehh

Just a quick update on the tank.
I have had issues with bubble algea for a little now, mainly lowflow rockwork. I grabbed a few emerald crabs, and a quarantined Foxface!
Also the algea is rough, kinda back and forth. Did a few wc and now i have some cyano poping up. I am ramping up the manual removal.

For the trouble here is a picture of a goofy camo fish
