Wondering if anyone utilizes this bottom funky chamber (highlighted in green) of the Fusion Nuvo 20. Im guessing not much flow there... Would it be ok to stick a heater in there (flow wise)?

Would be difficult to get it down there I believe, but it would work. I have speculated those chambers are to help provide enough volume to the return pumps. Or, perhaps so one can do a 10% water change from the return chamber. I had the JBJ 45 with similar chambers and considered creating a cryptic zone down there with rubble rock or Matrix. I ended up with a different tank though.

Thinking about the same thing, maybe low oxygen zone for denitrifying bacteria with siporax, but got scared of the detritus that might pile up there since its hard to reach. But figured, hey maybe utilize this space and at least stick a heater in there.

On my Nuvo 20 I put marinepure spheres in there. Tank did great for over a year, but i'm upgrading and breaking it down now so I cant comment on the longevity of it. Also not sure if the marinepure did anything but my nitrates were always almost undetectable.

Did you just stick the spheres in a mesh bag? how was the detritus build up in that area?

I just dropped those puppies in there. I siphon that area every other water change but obviously can only get the easy to access part. I'll let you know when finish the tear down though. I'd imagine its full of crud, sponges, feather dusters and what not.

For what it is worth, I use no filter pads or socks in my AIO and detritus accumulates in the chambers. I never considered it a problem. My Nitrates hover between 1-2 ppm.

I just checked out your build thread...quite the setup you have there. I hope my nitrates can hover just like yours!

That would be great if you could. Definitely need an extra heater. Temps dropped to 74 degrees during nights. 75w neotherm can't handle my old non-insulated house. So either I'll move my siporax in the middle chamber to the no flow zone of that funky area, or get a fully submersible horizontal titanium heater and stick it in there. Ideally I want to put the siporax in that area, since low flow is ideal for nitrate removing bacteria, but supposedly siporax has be kept detritus free to work properly. First try with siporax so I hope it goes right.
