So after turning my lights down for the night I happen to stare at my tank as I always do to see something that got me mad. I noticed the tail of my hippo tang sticking out of 2 rocks. Mad because its a new tank and was afraid the rocks shifted. Turned lights on and waited to see him wiggle. So he is sleeping! First hippo tang and didn't know that's how these guys sleep. Laughed and took a pic before he got mad cause I woke him up lol. Fish are very interesting sometimes. Why I prefer salt over fresh any day now!!!

Yeah I'm new with them and first time experiencing it. Always went behind the rocks at night but guess he wanted a good tight cozy spot now lol

That definitely looks like a cozy spot. Thank you for sharing! I didn't realize that they did that. :)

Yeah me either. Pretty cool. I'm trying to share more of my experiences on the forum. More time to spend on it and with my tank since out of the air force! No more 6 months away from my tanks!!!

Mine is young, less than 2" in length, and the weirdo sleeps in the middle of my pink birdsnest. During the day he'll squeeze between two of the rocks, but let the lights go out and there he is in the middle of the birdsnest.

This is where my little guy likes to sleep. At first I thought he went in the overflow jumped out just lost him. But he squeezes in there every night.

Mine does the same thing, its hilarious as he starts growing out of that spot he will look for another tight spot.

On another funny note... My big Purple Tang looks dead when he sleeps... sometimes lays completely down on the sand or against a rock. The first time i saw it i freaked out and thought he died, stuck my hand in the tank and all and out she went like i scared her...

Other day i saw her sleeping laying on top of my majestic angle like they where cuddling... All you can do is shake your head and laugh at these fish...

Mine is probably 10" and wedges sideways underneath a rock overhang to sleep. Usually can't see anything but its tail just like yours.

Awesome posts. Yeah I guess that's its permanent spot to sleep. Still doing it so use to it now. Just afraid because its a fairly new tank and afraid of rock shift.
