The regal is pretty darn beautiful. Got delivered at 9am this morning. Packaged and bagged very well by @nyaquatics and temp was 73. Floated and acclimated. Snapped a quick photo as I transferred into its temporary new home.

I divided the 150g Rubbermaid with some egg crate so the Regal can hang on one side.

One concern I’ve always had since setting up my outdoor “fishroom” is how things would hold up on a hot day.

It’s the hottest day of the year so far.

...and fortunately because of the large volume, the Rubbermaid’s temp has been just fine at 77.8. :)

I’ve been working my tail off all day getting this guy plumbed. Passed a leak test. It’s amazing. I had high expectations and Advanced Acrylic met them, in regards to the end product. The process of manufacturing delays and pushing to get my sump done was much less fun. But in the end, it took about 3 months to receive, and I’m very happy with the sump.

Polycarb lids on the fuge and return sections.

I’ve got 2 mud trays for the refugium. Really slick. I didn’t know what to expect.

Almost as excited getting the sump as I was my tank...almost.

Still a work in progress. A few small leaks I’ve been working on sealing. But fits the space exactly.

Still need to plumb in the second return, and hard plumb the UV. The work is never finished...

I will be honest that doesn’t look like it was fun at all... tight area and a ton of 90s to get the angles right. Great finished product though!

Thanks, I’m pretty pleased with it too. It was definitely NOT fun...but maybe rewarding? Finally got it to the point this morning without any leaks.

I got a little bacterial bloom going on. Turned on my UV sterilizer and it’s going away. I wonder whether it because the pvc cement primer has alcohol in it. Like I did some inadvertent carbon dosing.

Wow, been away for a couple of weeks just due to life being busy and I miss all sorts of stuff. New sump, fixing a Red Dragon pump, Regal angel and all other fish in the tank. Everything is looking great.

Now where are you hiding all the acro colonies in the pics? With everything else you have accomplished in the last couple of weeks it sure seems like you should have full blown acro colonies in there by now. ;Hilarious

The sump from AA looks like it was worth the wait.
Is that your operating water line in the sump? If so, seem high to me and wonder if you have enough headroom for the display to drain to in an event of power outage or return pump failing.

Sharp eye. Actually, that's with the pump off. So that's the water height with pump failure. Pump on, it's about 6 inches deep in the return section.

Bad news tonight. Came home from work and the regal angel was lying on the bottom of the tub, dead. I was shocked. This morning I had thought that it had eaten a clam and removed an empty shell from the clip.

Have literally 50 lbs of live rock in that tub. A couple heaters on a controller. It’s outdoors, no pollutants that I know of. A bubbler was going in the tank so it was well oxygenated. And it didn’t look sick!! Not skinny. No spots or wounds. It basically looked alive, except dead. Maybe it got too hot? Though ambient temperatures were cooler today than the previous few days.

I picked it out of the water and it must have just died, because it was still pliable in my fingers, but no gill movement.

Really have no clue why. Was such a beautiful fish. Just in case, gonna let that tub go fallow for a few months. And not gonna try another regal for awhile.

sorry @rds85...:(

Hard to believe this is a dead fish:

that usually is a trait of a cyanide caught fish. Healthy eating one day, belly up the next.
Very common from imports from the Philippines. Not to say other country aren’t doing it either.
