Getting an anemone, which one to get?

hey everyone I have a fluval evo 13.5 tank with two clowns and a damsel. I’ve always wanted corals and anemone in my tank and will get one in a month. I don’t really know the different types as I am new to the hobby. Something that would fit in my tank. I hope the clownfish can host it. Can someone give me some ideas? Thks

I would advise against a host anemone in that size tank. Most require a mature, stable system and can grow quite large.

What about a smaller one? How big do they get?

The only smaller ones that are readily available are rock flower anemones and mini maxi anemones, both of which are not typical host anemones. Even they can get 6-8” in diameter.

Very good lighting
Stable water conditions including fluctuations in salainity

Wow a 6 year old tank! Mine is only a month old. My lights are the ones that come with the tank. My water conditions are usual,y pretty stable.

I think poster meant 6 months which is usually recommended before gwtting an anenome.

I meant to put 6+ months. The evo lights are insufficient lighting and only do good for soft coral. A tank that old isn’t stable and has lots of fluctuations in water chemistry

He meant 6 month old tank, generally a good rule of thumb for anemone ownership. You're tank is WAY to young to have an anemone unfortunately. I didn't add one until this month and this tank started in the beginning of June. For the health of your tank and it's inhabitants please do ample objective research on any livestock before adding anything into your tank. With all due respect if you don't know the different types you're not ready to own an anemone they're beautiful creatures but please don't get one too early and without proper care knowledge. First rule of Reefing....patience! :)

Agree 100%. You would probably love a Rock Flower Anemone. Try a Frogspawn in that size to host your clowns. It needs to be at least 3+heads to handle the tough love your clowns will give it. IMO

I was also thinking if corals and was going to start researching. Can you give me a few types of coral good for my tank and good for a beginner? Thks

Frogspawn and hammer are not only great starters, they are great alternatives to anemone's as mentioned, and will fit your tank much better than any host anemone.

Softies like toadstools and leathers lps will do ok frogspawn, torch, Duncan’s. Candy cane, zoas etc etc.

Frogspawn has always been my favorite soft coral, a must have for me.
Pretty much always my first coral in every new tank.
