If you mean doing regular, every day, maybe every hour water changes... yes. If you mean a big, once a month water change... not really.

Seems like I read somewhere that depending on the amount of water changed and frequency, the 2.1 may be overtaxed if used as an AWC. Let's see what @Vinny@GHLUSA has to say.

I used mine for AWC's on my Nuvo 10 with no issues and plan on using it for my 125 Gallon setup. Key here is AWC, smaller amounts daily. I don't think it would work well for much larger water changes and you should probably look into the MAXI.

Yes and no.
It really depends on how much water you're looking to move per day.

Considering that the D2.1 has smaller motors, we do not recommend WC larger than 4.8L (1.2 US gal) per day. These pumps should not be run longer than 15 minutes non-stop before needing a 15 minute break, otherwise it will put additional wear on the motor and pump head.

Keeping the 15 min suggested max run-time in-mind, that means each cycle can be about 600ml.

Does GHL still make/sell the Maxi Doser .... that seems better suited to AWS (similar to the Apex DOS).
