I can also recommend the Giesemann AURORA v12 marine if you want to profit from the energy efficiency of LEDs but still want to have a soft light that doesn't cause these sharp shadows which cause SPS to stay colorless on the shadow-side.

You get a soft but noticeable ripple effect through the focus LEDs and still don't have to worry about sharp shadows due to the diffusers on the side. I think it looks great so far and is easy to use.

Full disclosure: I only have it for a few months now, but the PAR readings are fine according to my Apogee and the light can be upgraded if you need even more output.

You don't need to use LEDs. ATI Blue Plus is what I use. No SPS here at home... but I get the Spectra.

I used one on my tank for probably 15 years. I’ll put some pictures up. I switched to ATI Spectra Pro G2, as it was getting harder to find MH.

By the way Alex , Giesemann informed me that they producing again the spectra with new design including bulbs!!!

They always did. The price is different for the options. You could choose to get with ballast and bulbs, or not. You will love the spectra!

Mines a DIY halide/T5 set up but you wont be disappointed with a Geissmann Spectra. Im getting insane growth on my sps.
