I use glass and it will but slightly. Do clean the glass weekly for best clarity

I also use glass lids. Keeping them clean is the biggest thing. But yes your lights will be affected by anything that comes between them and the water, even rippling from wavemakers or returns.

Low iron glass supposedly has a visible light transmittance of ~91%. So in theory, you’d lose about 9% light output with a clean pane. Different wavelengths won’t be attenuated by the same amount though, so that 9% is probably only a decent rough estimate.

Glass lid: PITA cleaning is the main drag….
if temps are high, heat trap could “possibly” be a issue

…btw you trying to cut down evaporation or keep the fish inside or both? …why not a mesh top?

By definition it has to attenuate the light, and this will happen across the spectrum.

The lid on my fish tank also gathers condensation and that development makes the situation worse for interrupting light movement into the tank.

Welcome to R2R! i would also suggest going with mesh screen, i have metal halide lights over my tank, and mesh screen cover, and i lose 50 par from mesh screen, have to add, these mesh screens last me about 2 years, before they rip apart. those metal halides really heats them up,
