Based off your final picture, it looks like the center of your drilled hole is slightly more than 3" from the bottom of the trim on the exterior of the tank which is about where my drilled hole is.

I think this means the overflow will fit on my tank. Thanks for your help!

Now I'm second guessing it because your hole is over 3" from the bottom of your top trim on the exterior of the tank.No problem. Just so happen to have 2 empty stock aqueon tanks, with eshopps medium overflows. Sitting in my living room.. They come with slip/slip if that is your thing. I swaped them out and went threaded. My test runs with the hose, I found I wanted a slightly taller pipe for the herbie, there was still some slosh from the 1.5 going into the external box. Here's a better pic. About 4.75" to center
