Looking for feedback from anyone who has a Glass Cages metal stand with their wood paneling "skins" held on by magnets. I'm trying to decide between that and one of their regular wooden stands. I like the idea of a metal stand but want the look of wood cabinetry.

If you have one of these-
How do you like it?
How long have you had it and have the panels remained perfectly aligned?
How is it for daily aquarium maintenance, i.e. lifting the panel off and setting it aside vs. opening a door on a wood cabinet?

Thanks!

I'm curious too! Anyone?

Nobody has one of these? I don't think I'd buy one without hearing from someone who has one.

Some photos from the GC website:

i have a miricles steel stand that i skinned myself because i wanted doors in front. i couldnt deal with removing the panels. i did put removable panels on the sides with magnets. cost me less than $200 with hidden hinges.

If I had a metal stand that would be the way I’d go. I imagine they simply have a recess drilled into each panel at very precise places and then Inset with a rare earth magnet. So I could see a small ability to vary the height and it could get out of visual true if you were not careful to align each panel with its neighbors. But then again it would be easy to adjust.

I think you will be much better off with an easily removable panel vs having to deal with hinges if you think you will be working in your sump a lot, and want the easiest aces possible.

hidden hinges open 180 degrees, thats why i used them.

I have a 360 island tank and had solid doors but was getting to much humidity under the stand and then condisation on controlers and equipment so i went and made slid in doors using the small square pvc or vinyl latice heres a night pic of the tank and latice doors

Could you post a photo?

That looks like the best of both worlds, hinged doors on the front and removable panels on the sides. I don't think GC can do that though unfortunately.

I was very concerned about humidity with my 300 build so I installed a bathroom fan vented outside that uses an AC infinity humidity sensor to ensure condensation doesn’t build up.

i did it myself for about $200. miricles i think wanted $1300 without hinged doors. they didnt offer them either. if you cant make them yourself im sure you can get a carpenter to make them after you get the tank. i left the back open so no worries of condensation.

You can look at some of my videos about a glass cages wood stand that sits on a metal bottom brace with leveling feet. Mine was the 1st they ever did. It turned out amazing. The wood stand portion is built like a tank. The leveling feet were easy to adjust. If I had to do it again, I would order the exact same thing. Absolutely love it.

Checked out your videos, very nice!!! I am getting ready to order my custom tank and stand from Glass Cages. I decided against the metal stand because I want hinged doors rather than removing entire panels whenever I need to access the sump. I was planning to get the leveling feet like you have, but my wife vetoed that as she doesn't want a gap at the bottom of the stand. Luckily my floor is almost perfectly level so should be able to get by with shims if needed.
