Glove Coral not spreading..

Not sure if I'm in the right forum but here goes.

I have some algae on my live rock. Is this the reason that I cant get my glove coral to spread? It has attached to the LR nicely but won't repopulate. Eventually I'd like to have the entire rock covered. How long should this take?
