A couple days ago, I added a pistol shrimp and goby pair to my 75 gallon reef. At first they were all in the same little hole but the gobys quickly relocated to a different one on the other side of the tank. Ive seen no sign of the shrimp since they have moved. Was the pistol shrimp left there or is it possible they brought it with them?

Been there before. They have always found each other.

Just chill and watch and it should all work out.

Every shrimp no matter what kind has always hidden and molted shortly after adding to my tank.

Yours may be doing that right now.

Also the goby may just be checking out the new digs and learning the new landscape.

I really hope so! I think the goby/shrimp pair is one of the coolest symbiotic relationships you can have in your reef tank and id love to see it work out in mine

Thanks for your fast reply and ill leave an update if anything happens!

Once mine paired the goby never seems to be to far from his shrimp. Just my experience though I am sure others have had different experiences.
Thats what I thought would happen. I wonder if the shrimp relocated with them though, but I sort of doubt that.

I think it is one of the coolest too. I bought a goby pair and a shrimp but the initial shrimp didn't make it in shipping so they were without one for awhile. It was pretty funny when the bigger goby found the shrimp because he wouldn't let the smaller one near it. He was even bullying the smaller one. They have since worked it out and the three are inseparable.

Tiger pistols are decent size and can move mountains!

Candycane shrimp are much smaller and don’t do major rescapes.
